The name
Ætt means family
In Old Norse, ætt was your family: your kin, the people you belong to and the line you come from. The word lives on in Norwegian today.
The runes had families too. The 24 runes of the oldest runic alphabet, the Elder Futhark, are traditionally divided into three ættir of eight: Freyr's ætt, Hagal's ætt and Tyr's ætt. Each rune has its place in its ætt, the way everyone has their place in a family.
ÆttHQ is the family's headquarters: one place where the whole ætt keeps track of the day.
